Shock - ANS-Failure of the circulatory system cause by: pump failure, pipe failure, or
fluid loss
Cardiogenic Shock - ANS-Occurs when the heart cannot pump enough blood to supply
the needs of the body
Congestive Heart Failure - ANS-Occurs when inadequate pumping of the heart causes
blood to back up in the vessel of the lungs
Pipe Failure - ANS-Caused by expansion of capillaries, blood pools in capillaries,
depriving the rest of the body of blood, drops blood pressure and shock results
Blood Pressure - ANS-The pressure of the circulating blood against the walls of the
arteries
Psychogenic shock - ANS-Bodies response to a major psychological or emotional
stress. Sudden dilation of blood vessels results in fainting because of lack of blood
supply to the brain.
Fainting Treatment - ANS-Place patient in a horizontal position
anaphylactic shock - ANS-Severe shock caused by an allergic reaction
