Concrete Field Inspector CTQP
Special Provisions - ANS-Specific clauses adding to or revising the Standard
Specification, setting forth conditions varying from or additional to the Standard
Specifacations, for a specific purpose.
Technical Special Provisions - ANS-Specifications prepared, signed and sealed by an
Engineer registered in the state of Florida other than the State Specifications Engineer,
or his disignee, which are made part of the contract as an attachment to Specifications
package.
concrete - ANS-The end product produced through the mixing of cement, aggregate
and water.
Structural Concrete - ANS-Is a mixture of all cementitious materials, aggregate water
and admixtures delivered in an unhardened state.
coarse aggregate - ANS-Must be from an approved source and must be material
substantially retained on a No. 4 sieve. Also must be free of deleterious substances
(clay lumps, salt, organic matter, soft and friable materials.
Fine aggregate - ANS-Shall consist of natural silica sand, screenings, local materials or
subject to approval, other inert materials with similar characteristics. Silica Sand cannot
have that 4% passing No. 200 sieve.
Pozzolans and slag - ANS-Are materials that can be substituted for cement. They are
the byproducts of other industrial processes.
Water-reducer Admixtures - ANS-Increases ease of placement; reduce water content
(increases strength); type A
Water-reducer retardant Admixtures - ANS-Increases ease of placement; reduce water
content (increases strength); type D
Air Entrainment Admixtures - ANS-Disperse air bubbles, increases workability and
durability; use an air entraining admixture in all concrete mixes except counterweight
concrete.
