Functional Movement Screening (FMS)
What does FMS do? - ANS-1. Communcation
2. Evaluation: The screen identifes
3. Saftey
4. Corrective Strategies
FMS serves as a tool for what - ANS-Risk Management
Joint by Joint: - ANS-1. Ankle (Mobility, saggital plane)
2. Knee (Stability)
3. Hip (Mobility, Multi planar)
4. Lumbar Spine (Stablilty)
5. Throacic Spine (Mobility)
6. Scapula (Stability)
7. Gleno Humeral (Mobility)
What is the Functional Movement Screen (FMS)? - ANS-Is the product of an exercise
philosophy known as Functional Movement Systems. This exercise ohilosophy and
corresponding set of resources is based on sound science, years of innovation, and
current research.
The movement screening process - ANS-Used together, the FMS and performance
testing create a more complete human fuction perspective than either alone can
provide.
Types of problems Movement patter probelms: - ANS-Basic deficiencies in mobility and
stability causing limitations and asymmetries in one or more basic movement patters.
Types of problems Athlete performance problems: - ANS-Fundamental movement
patterns are free of deficiencies, but deficiencies are noted in athletic fitness parameters
and movement skills related to a specific sport.
The Movement Patterns of the FMS - ANS-1. Deep Squat
2. Hurdle Step
3. In-Line Lung
4. Shoulder Mobility
5. Active Straight Leg Raise
