Q-1. Answer any two of the following.
a) Write the Van der Waal equation n mole of a real gas.
b) Mention the conditions of temperature and pressure at which real gases behave ideally.
c) State the Dalton’s Law of Partial Pressure.
Q-2. At 0oC the density of a certain oxide of a gas at 2 bar is same as that of nitrogen at 5 bar. What is
the molecular mass of its oxide?
Q-3. a) What do you understand by the terms- system and surrounding?
b) In a process 701 Joule of heat is absorbed by a system and 394 joule of work is done by the
system. Calculate the change in internal energy of the process.

Q-4. a) Define Hess’s Law of Constant Heat Summation.
b) Enthalpy of Combustion of carbon to CO2 is -393.5kJ/mol. Calculate the heat released upon
formation of 35.2g of CO2 from Carbon and Di-oxygen gas. (Molecular Mass of CO2 = 44 )
OR
a) What do you mean by Gibb’s Free Energy?
b) For a reaction 2A (g) + B (g) 2D (g) , ∆U0 = -10.5 kJ and ∆S0 = -44.1 J/K
Calculate ∆G0 for the reaction and predict whether the reaction may be spontaneous or not.
