Class C - ANS-Special event
needs PS by first day of event
Expiry - ANS-5 years
Have 30 days from start date of employment to complete

Purpose of PS - ANS--helps curb problem of underage drinking
-reduce alcohol over consumption
-decrease impaired driving
-decrease risk of violence
-includes legal responsibility and liabilities
-identifying intoxication
-responsible strategies
-refusing service or sale of alcohol
Helps employers, hosts, workers be socially responsible how? - ANS-harm reduction
Helps make safe enjoyable atmosphere how? - ANS-teaching legal liability and
workplace safety
, Other people do jobs that help support responsible liquor service because they deal
with customers too. They can: - ANS--help you identify people who are under the age of
18 (minors)
-point out people who show signs of having had too much to drink
-tell you when they think a customer or guest has been over-served
-make supervisors aware when liquor is illegally bought or stored
Primary Service Providers - ANS-people who are connected with liquor service or sales
and have direct contact with customers or guests. Security staff have a special role:
monitor customers upon arrival or departure, observe customer behaviour, and may see
liquor being hidden.
Secondary Service Providers - ANS-Do not sell or serve liquor themselves, but they do
work where liquor is sold or served. They usually do not have direct contact with
customers or guests.
Bartender is a - ANS-Primary provider
Ticket taker is a - ANS-Primary provider
Usher is a - ANS-Secondary provider
Liquor Clerk is a - ANS-Primary provider
Food and beverage server is a - ANS-Primary provider
Busser is a - ANS-Secondary provider
Host or Hostess is a - ANS-Primary provider
parking attendant is a - ANS-Secondary provider
Duty of care - ANS-Responsibility to your customers to make sure liquor is sold or
served in a safe responsible way. Must make sure no one is hurt because of the way
you've done your job. Duty to care about customers.
Insurance companies may also expect - ANS-Workers and volunteers to take
responsible liquor service training.
