INTRODUCTION


People's beliefs and judgements of their own selves ascertain who or what they

are, what they can do, and who they can become. These impactful inner factors serve as

an intrinsic guidelines framework, directing and cultivating individuals through daily

existence and governing their conduct. Self-concept and self-esteem are terms that

describe people's thoughts and feelings about themselves. These, as well as one‘s

capacity to deal with life's challenges and exert control over how much happens to them,

have been well documented in the literature.The sum of an individual's beliefs and

knowledge about his or her unique characteristics and traits is defined as self-concept. It

is classified as a parameter setting because it categorizes conceptual and concrete

self-perceptions and controls the processing of self-relevant information. Self-concept is

equivalent to other concepts such as self-image and self-perception. Self-esteem is the

interpretative and beneficial aspect of self-concept, and it is thought to be equivalent to

identity, ego, and . It refers to a person's overall assessment of his or her positive or

negative worth based on the ratings he or she gives himself or herself in various roles and

domains of life. Positive self-esteem is regarded not only as a fundamental feature of

mental health, and as a barrier protection significant contributor to better mental health.

,Background of the Study


Positive self-esteem is regarded not only as a fundamental feature of mental

health, or even as a protective contributory factor to better health and healthy social

behavior by forming a protective layer against the effect of negative influencing factors.

It is thought to actively promote healthy functioning in parts of life such as

accomplishments, progress, contentment, and the capacity to handle diseases including

cancer and cardiovascular disease. An impairments and negative self, on the other hand,

can play a vital role in the evolution of a variety of mental dysfunction and social issues,

including distress, eating disorders, binge eating, depression, abuse, substance abuse, and

high-risk behaviors. These conditions not only cause serious personal suffering, but also

impose a significant financial burden.on society.Current and future studies have identified

low self-esteem as a risk factor and positive self-esteem as a protective factor, as will be

demonstrated. To give a brief, self-esteem is thought to be an influential factor in both

physical and mental health, and as such, it should be a major focus throughout healthcare,

particularly behavioral health advancement.

Statement of the Problem

The amount of respect or self-worth that a person has for himself or herself is

referred to as self-esteem. People are frequently described as having either high

self-esteem, which means they have high regard for themselves and their abilities, or low

self-esteem, which means they have doubts and criticisms about themselves and their

abilities. People who have low self-esteem may face a variety of difficulties in their lives.

However, "low self-esteem" is a popular description of how a person thinks or feels about

himself or herself; it is not an official diagnosis of a mental health problem. Nonetheless,

, many mental health care professionals agree that having a positive self-image is

important in many aspects of one's life.

Research Questions


1.Is low self-esteem not an acknowledged psychological health diagnosis?

2.What factors, including social, economic, cultural, and biological factors,

influence how people perceive themselves and their abilities?

3.How to boost or keep a person's self-esteem?



Research Hypothesis

There is no correlation between self-esteem in adolescents and risks and

protective factors for their health and welfare.

Significance of the Study


Self-esteem plays an essential role in our mental and physical health. According

to research, it improves performance in specific fields such as education and, more

broadly, has a positive impact on our physical and psychological health as well as peer

status. People with higher self-esteem, on the other hand, frequently report joy and are

more satisfied with life. They are more confident in their abilities to deal with problems

and face new challenges, so they're more willing to contact new people just to make real
