Moyer’s 10 basic responsibilities of CEO:
1) Commit to the mission: understanding and keeping mission in mind when making
decision.
2) Lead the staff and manage the organization: responsibilities of hiring, training,
developing and motivating staff.
3) Exercise responsible financial stewardship: managing assets, revenues, and
expenditures.
4) Lead and manage fundraising
5) Follow the highest ethical standards, ensure accountability, and comply with the law
6) Engage the board in planning and lead implementation
7) Develop future leadership: preparing bunch of qualified successors.

collected for evaluation.

Many roles are overlapping with of boards and therefore many work has been done to distinct
the roles.
Managing and leading are involved in CEO’s responsibilities.
Management and Leadership: leadership and management are not the same things.
Management (how?) is about day to day operation with making things work (smoothly
running process, less problems and error). It also emphasizes policies, procedures, rules and
processes. It is transactional: the manager provides sanctions and rewards based on the work
done.
Leadership (where and why?): is about purpose, vision and direction. It is interactive in a way
that it is a process that involves relationship between leaders and people who are led. Leaders
are focused on change, and that change is not directionless; leadership involves moving
people toward the achievement of some defined goals.
Leaders and managers can be both the same or different people but their roles are definitely
different. It is possible for CEO to delegate management to others, but only the CEO can
