Trends in Marketing
In a forever-changing world, the impacts of automation and AI have reached far and wide,
including in marketing. I recently had the pleasure of interviewing my older sister, Sally Hang.
She is currently working at Ceridian, a global human capital management (HCM) software
company as their manager of marketing automation. Sally actively works with the integration of
automation in her field. This implementation of automation in marketing intrigues me and has
me questioning what the future of marketing will look like. This interview allowed me to see
insights into my future field as her path was similar to mine. Sally’s career journey has been
fascinating, and her passion for things like creative work, to data analytics now perfectly aligns
herself to her current job. She had also attended BCIT and graduated in 2019. Since Sally has
only been in this industry for a couple of years now, she gave me important insights into the
journey from a student and the skills she obtained to transition into her professional career. We
discussed some of her strengths, challenges, and advice in getting the most out of the program
at BCIT that can benefit my professional career.
One of the main points that frequently arose while we talked, was the importance of adaption
in the ever-changing industry. With new technology that is constantly surfacing like AI, being on
