E.Abp (Androgen-binding protein) BIOS256 OL, Week 6 Lab
Name:
1.2Identify the function of the following hormones: (4 points)
a.Gonadotropin-releasing hormone (GnRH):
•The Hypothalamus produces GnRh and the Anterior Pituitary Gland releases it through blood.
b.Follicle stimulating hormone:
•stimulates the egg growth in the ovaries and controls the menstrual cycle.
Controls the sperm production in men and amount of FSH.
c.Luteinizing hormone:
•Stimulates cells of Leydig to produce the testosterone. In Females, Lh controls the ovaries, ovulation, and female cycle of menstrual cycle.
d.Inhibin
•When FSH levels are high, Inhibin hormone is released to reduce it in males.
e.Dihydrotestosterone (DHT)
•Produced by prostate, adrenal cortex and testes. Helps with the facial hair growth and pubic hair. Dht is also known for the sex organ enlargement.
f.Testosterone
