Summary Visual acuity
Visual acuity refers to the clarity or sharpness of vision. It is typically measured using a standardized eye chart, such as the Snellen chart, where the ability to discern letters or symbols at a certain distance is tested. The result of the test is usually expressed as a fraction, such as 20/20 or 20/40, where the first number represents the testing distance in feet and the second number represents the distance at which a person with normal vision could read the same line of letters.
