1978- TJC required establishment of a position to oversee and coordinate staff
development
1985- Initiation of Journal for Nurses in staff development.
1992- First Specialty Nursing Certification for Nursing staff development
1998- First Staff Development Week
2000- ANA published Scope and Standards for Nursing Professional Development
2012-NNSDO changed name to ANPD
2014- ANPD commissioned 2 national studies: 1. NPD role delineation, and 2. NPD
organization value.
