CENTRAL NERVOUS SYSTEM
The Brain and the Spinal Cord System
THE BRAIN
-Specific brain structures are particularly specialized for diverse functions
-These structures arise during embryonic development
-Human Brain is a squishy, wrinkled, walnut – shaped hunk of tissues.
DIVISIONS OF THE CENTRAL NERVOUS SYSTEM
- The central nervous system is made up of the brain and spinal cord.
- The brain constitutes about one-fiftieth of the body weight and lies within the cranial cavity.
THE BRAIN PARTS ARE
–Cerebrum
–The brain stem (midbrain, pons, medulla oblongata)
