Prior to completing this pre-lab you may want to watch the iLecture for this module on the
conventions around the naming of muscles. When labelling the muscles below take a
moment to think about the name of each muscle and see if you can work out why the
muscle was given the name.
1. Label the following muscles on Figure 3.1: temporalis, masseter, orbicularis oris,
orbicularis oculi, sternocleidomastoid. Of the muscles listed, highlight in different colours
those that are classified as muscles of facial expression and those that are muscles
ofmastication.

2. Label the following muscles on Figure 3.2: deltoid, pectoralis major, serratus
anterior, rectus abdominis, internal oblique, external oblique and transversus
abdominis
