1. Relationship between trust in the police and presence of democracy (measured with
dichotomous variable) exists in Africa.
The literature review suggests that the trust in police helps in developing a strong democracy.
This finding is further tested by evaluating a correlation test among the variables “Q59h” (Trust
Police) and Democracy (Dichotomous).
The result of this correlation analysis is give below:
The following table shows the descriptive statistics of the variables considered in this study. The
average value of Trust in police is 1.57 with standard deviation of 1.104 where as the average
value if Democracy is .8867 with standard deviation of .317.
The above table Correlations shows the main findings of this analysis. The Pearson correlation
coefficient among the variables Q59h (Trust Police) and Democracy (Dichotomous) is .154
which shows a very low correlation among the variables.
