Acid:
An Arrhenius acid may be defined as any hydrogen
containing substance which gives hydrogen ion (H+)
in aqueous solution
Or
Acid is a compound that, when dissolved in water,
increases the concentration of hydrogen ion (H +).
When an acid dissociates to produce hydrogen
ions in water, the hydrogen ions do not remain as
individual ions but are attracted to the polar water
molecule represented by
H+ +H2O H3O+
