properties of the many types of cement may help you make an decision
when selecting materials for your required projects.

In this article, we explore about cement and 15 types of cement for
considering the uses with its compounds and specifications of cement to
get practical knowledge.

What is cement?

Cement is a fine gray powder created from raw materials and chemical
compounds that professionals use in various Civil Construction works . It's
a manufactured ingredient used in concrete. Professionals create cement
by mixing raw materials with metals and minerals such as aluminum, iron,
calcium and silicon before heating it to high temperatures to form a solid
material called clinker. Clinker is then ground into a powder sold as
cement to ready-mix concrete companies. Raw materials in cement may
include:

 Chalk
 Clay
 Iron ore
 Limestone
 Shale
 Shells
 Silica sand
 Slag

Each step of cement's manufacturing process requires monitoring with
frequent chemical and physical tests to ensure cement meets industry
specifications. Though testing processes may be similar worldwide,
references to certain cement standards may vary by location. Scientists
may use oxide analysis to verify the content and composition of cement
samples. Some physical features they may inspect may include:

 Air content
 Compressive strength
 Early age strength development
 Increased heat of hydration
 Lower heat of hydration
 Particle size
 Setting time
