Molefhi B. O. C. [Mr] Lecture #: 1 & 2
,Course Objectives/Course Learning Outcomes:
By the end of this course you should be able to:
1. Define direct current voltage, current, power and energy and
explain how they are computed and measured. [ECSA ELO 2]
2. State and apply direct current circuit laws and theorems. [ECSA
ELO 2]
3. Solve direct current series, parallel and combination circuits
4. Explain and apply electrostatics principles in direct current
circuits. [ECSA ELO 2]
5. Explain and apply magneto statics principles in direct current
circuits. [ECSA ELO 2]
6. Explain and apply electromagnetic induction principles in direct
current circuits. [ECSA ELO 2]
7. Explain and apply the operational principles of direct current
motors. [ECSA ELO 2]
8. Carry out and report on experimental work [ECSA ELO 2, 4, 6]
, Credit will be awarded if a student achieves a minimum mark of 50% overall
and also meets the ECSA outcomes assessment .
Failure to perform satisfactorily in any of these will result in scaling the
course mark to a maximum of 49 percent which results in outright failure.
RETAKE!!!!
Course Goals:
• To enable students to understand, analyse, and apply direct current circuit
principles to the solution of electrical engineering direct current problems.
• By the end of this course, students should be able to solve problems of
direct current circuits.
