Dear Jannat,
Hey Jannat! It’s been a long time talking with you but today I promise I will be active in
sending letters to you. Since that day I have been upset. You may ask why?Let me answer. I
was present at the train station as my friends and relatives were departing back to their
cities.
You might be confused and not be able to understand. I should start from the beginning of
the story. Yeah so I am talking about last friday,Makar Sankranti, the day of flying kites. As I
belong to a hindu religion, we have lots of religious festivals in a year. Makar Sankranti is
one of them and this year I visited my relatives and friends in our old Dhaka where this
religious festival is celebrated with a lot of excitement and joy.
So they came and celebrated with us in old Dhaka. At noon,I didn’t realise that the same day
they were about to depart from our city. I travelled with them and reached the railway station.
It was cold and I had to keep my hands in the pocket of my jacket to keep them warm. Soon
I reached I could see a crowd of people coming towards us.. We do not have to move infact
the crowd was pushing us to go inside. I tightly held my friends’ hand as the crowd shoved
their way. Finally, we found ourselves on the bridge that leads towards the platforms. By this
time, I found myself completely wet by the sweat and the warmth of the crowd.
Now, I could see passengers fighting with each other to enter the platforms, some were
crying, some were alone, some were waving hands to the relatives and some were just sitting
in the window seats and observing these different types of passengers. In a few moments, I
heard a roaring blast of the steam-powered railway engine.By hearing this, hundreds and
hundreds of passengers and their relatives ran towards the train. It felt to me like a crowd of
ants running towards a sweet dish.
Finally, it was time for my relatives and friends to go to their own platforms. We said
‘Goodbye’ to them with a broken heart as they had to leave. I could also notice other people
saying goodbye and wishing for a better life from now on. I could feel that the air was filled
with love and emotions instead of filled with oxygen.Suddenly, I noticed a sad relative started
singing for his family who will be leaving. Soon I could hear that the whole crowd was singing
along with him. Such an emotional moment I had in my life.
I flashed my moment from the morning. Soon after they arrived at our house, we dressed in
white salwar kameez, flying kites and winning and losing the flying kites’ game. I could see
