• A vaccine given 4 days prior to the scheduled time to receive it is considered a valid
dose
• A vaccine given 5 days prior to the scheduled time to receive it is considered
an INVALID dose and should be repeated
What if they still refuse?
• Exclude children from your practice: NOT RECOMMENDED! (child needs care and it’s
not child’s fault)
• Teach about clinical presentation of vaccine-preventable diseases
• Remind caregiver to call before bringing child to office visit if child is ill!
• Alert other HCPs about which patients are not immunized
• Sign CDC’s
