• India has an area of 3.28 million sq.km.
• It accounts for about 2.4% of the total geographical area of the world.
• It is the seventh largest country of the world.
• India has land boundary of 15,200 km.
• The total length of the coastline of India including Andaman and
Nicobar and Lakshadweep is 7516.6 km.

3. What is the longitudinal and latitudinal extent of India?

30 °.

4. The latitudinal and longitudinal extent is about 30 degr5ee. But the
actual distance on the ground is different. Why?

State why the North-South extent of India is larger than its East-West
