Metaphor and its types
Metaphoric expressions use figurative language to make abstract concepts more understandable. Ontological metaphors treat abstract ideas as concrete objects (e.g., "a love affair that has run its course"). Structural metaphors frame one concept in terms of another (e.g., "a well-organized plan is a blueprint"). Orientational metaphors relate abstract ideas to physical directions or positions (e.g., "feeling down"). These types of metaphors enrich our understanding by connecting the abstract with the concrete.
