Meaning of Zakat:
The term Zakat is derived from Zaka, meaning "increase" or "growth," and it also implies
"purification," "enlargement," and "flourishing." In Islamic jurisprudence, Zakat refers to
"financial devotion," where every Muslim who possesses a certain amount of wealth must give a
portion as prescribed by Sharia to those entitled to receive Zakat.
Purpose of Zakat:
Zakat serves multiple purposes beyond supporting the poor and effecting wealth distribution. As
an obligatory act of worship, it purifies the heart and soul, transforming individuals into sincere
and obedient servants of Allah. Without Zakat, achieving this transformation is impossible. Zakat
