Frantz Fanon’s concept of the self, the other and the Other deals with the idea of how an
individual sees himself as superior and inferior at the same time in relation to other identities. To
simply put it, “The self” refers to one’s own identity, “the other” relates to the identities that the
self considers to be inferior to him and “the Other” refers to those to whom the self looks up to
