The Kidney Disease
NUR261 is a course focusing on the fundamentals of nursing care for critically ill or
medically complex patients. In this course, topics including pharmacology, nutrition, pain
control, wound care, as well as therapeutic communication will be covered. Moreover, it will
investigate medical care's legal and ethical ramifications for individuals with chronic kidney
disease.
I would choose pharmacology in relation to chronic kidney disease as the topic in my
NUR261. In medicine, pharmacology refers to the study of pharmaceuticals, including how they
work in the body and how they may be used to cure, prevent, or manage, for example, in my
case, individuals with chronic kidney disease (Tuttle, 2018). Pharmacology has been the
cornerstone of the medical sciences for millennia since doctors need to know how medications
work in the human body and how to provide them to individuals with chronic kidney disease
without causing harm.
By studying chronic kidney disease, health practitioners learn about the complex
relationships between pharmaceuticals and the human body and environment and how to provide
medications to patients with chronic kidney disease safely and effectively (Tuttle, 2018). This
article will examine chronic kidney disease, its pathophysiology, risks, consequences and clinical
presentations. The paper will also cover the expected evaluation and laboratory results, evidence-
based nursing treatments, and patient education for in-hospital and at-home care for individuals
with chronic kidney disease.
Pathophysiology, Risk Factors, and Associated Complications
Pathophysiology is defined as the study of irregular body functioning variations resulting
from disease developments. In relation to chronic kidney diseases, the term pathophysiology
