Smart cities have been around for decades with the purpose of managing and innovating an
urban infrastructure. What distinguishes a smart city from any other city is its ability to
integrate and utilize technology in order to increase efficiency or solve an urban issue. These
technologies can come in various forms, from integrating renewable energy sources to meet
sustainability goals to implementing surveillance systems to improve the behavior of its
citizens. Though the implementation of surveillance systems is not a new phenomenon within
the urban spectrum, there is a notable rise in cities relying on these systems to maintain order,
