ASPECTS OF MATERIAL AND NON-MATERIAL CULTURE

INTRODUCTION

In the world of diverse culture, we have two important aspects of the culture e.g.

material and non-material culture which people of any separate community experience. One

aspect represent the physical appearance of the material whereas other shows the beliefs,

values and ethics through their representation among the individuals. We are here to

distinguish the two types of culture. We have several objects and their associated values or

cultural beliefs that represent how we culturally use those material objects with their

significant culture significance in the world[ CITATION hop \l 1033 ].

EXAMINING THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN MATERIAL AND NON-MATERIAL

CULTURE

Material culture infers to the physical resources, objects, and spaces which

individuals utilize to describe their own culture for instances, offices, neighborhoods, homes,

schools, cities, churches, temples, synagogues, mosques, plants, tools, factories, means of

production, products, stores, goods or any material objects existing in the world. On the other

hand, Non‐material culture denotes to the spiritual and ethical ideas or thoughts that

individuals have around their culture, comprising beliefs, rules, values, norms, language,

morals, institutions and organizations etc.[ CITATION Bob09 \l 1033 ]

IDENTIFYING THE TEN OBJECTS OF REGULAR CULTURAL EXPERIENCE

We have recognized these objects (material) of the regular culture knowledge that we

experience in the life as:

1. Restaurant Fast Food e.g. MacDonald’s or KFC

2. Novel and religious books e.g. Bible
