Like any other black-face road
It have no definite colour
And it fence two side
With live barbwire”
- The journey is indiscriminate. It favours neither black nor white but it
comes upon all. One can’t escape it. Colloquialism is used to create an
informal aspect
“And no look fi no milepost
Fi measure you walking
And no tek no stone as
Dead or familiar”
- The end of the journey cannot physically measured, but depends
purely on the person undertaking it
“For some time you pass a ting
You know as…call it stone again
And is a snake ready fi squeeze yu
Kill yu
Or is a dead man tek him
Possessions tease yu.
- Snake- a symbol of evil power and chaos
