If previously vague answers become precise that is a clue of malingering Nothing works Doc - ask in depth questions on medication and psychotherapy trials, 4-6 week antidepressants, 8 sessions of therapy. Make sure to offer more aggressive treatment. t. I have heard of klonopin from a friend who has what I have: Prescription substance abusers, - asks for control early, pt insists has tried every other non addictive treatment, pt has tried a friends medication, history of abuse. Try stating "Did you know Drug X has very dangerous side effects like addiction" Ask to speak to prior prescribers I don't know syndrome - ask them if they do not know or if they do not want to say. If I were a fly on the wall what would I see during one of your moods. Ask if their friends are in any trouble; this might lead to an autobiography. If adolescents grades change what can it be a sign of - Depression/substance abuse Ask adolescences about sports/outside activities because this gives you insight on what - Depression- withdrawal How to inquire about sex with an adol patient - "Do you have any romantic relationships?" then "would you be comfortable talking about sex? Are you sexually active? "Do you ever think that your feelings about sex are different from other kids feelings. Techniques for conduct disorder - Normalize it "It looks like your family feels there's been a lot of stealing. I am sure if you have done it there was a good reason for it, maybe it was the only way to get something or a challenge from friends
