Anxiety Disorder/Obsessive Compulsive Disorder
Lauren has been diagnosed with social anxiety disorder and has been experiencing
obsessive thoughts that result in compulsive behaviors. This has caused the patient to
significantly impact her life and day-to-day function. During the interview, many signs of
anxiety were spotted in the video, including several obsessive-compulsive behaviors.
Three clinical signs of Anxiety observed in the videos
Anxiety disorders involve characteristics of excessive fear and anxiety and link
behavioral disturbances (Belleza, 2021). The treatments for this disorder are psychotherapy,
known as counseling, and medications. In the video, there was a few signs of anxiety from the
patient, such as she was worried something might happen to her grandpa, even though she did
not indicate to consider that something terrible would happen. The patient states that she will
think about the idea every day in every five minutes. Laura mentions that she is worried about
saying things that will embarrass her. An example of what the patient thinks when embarrassed
is informing someone that their shoelaces are not even. The last thing that concerns Laura is
when someone is sick around her, and they do not mention anything. She is worried about
getting their disease because she knows nothing about it. The patient is constantly concerned
about her surroundings at school and other people.
Three Obsessive-Compulsive behaviors observed in the video
During the video, many observations of obsessive-compulsive behaviors were found in
the interview. In the morning, the patient states she would need to make her grandpa breakfast
and that it had to be finished before nine o'clock. Laura said she did not prepare in time, which
caused her whole body to shake, making her very uncomfortable. She mentioned repeatedly
