In this assignment I am going to describe how the organisation
identifies the skills that the employees need to carry out their jobs.
the company which I have chosen for this assignment is The
Bijenkorf.
The Bijenkorf aims for higher profits every year. They want to open
more shops in the country and expand into different markets. They
also want to sell a lot of products trough their online website. But to
do all of this they need a excellent workforce. Managers should know
the workforce profiles of their employees. For example if The
Bijenkorf wants to open a store in Germany, they can use their
existing workers which can speak German. The managers know they
have employees who speak German because of the workforce
profiles. If they don’t have this type of information from their
employees they need to hire or recruit employees which do speak
German, however this would cost The Bijenkorf time and money.
Impact of technology
Increasing technology changes the way most of the organizations
operate around the globe. It can impact the number of workers a
company has or how many they need to employ to level the technical
expertise. Changes in technology affect The Bijenkorf and their
employees very much. Skills that were once important in order to get
a job are no longer needed with the change in technology. For
example, employees in the sales department used to go all the way
back to the storage to see if a product is in stock, these days all sales
employees carry a tablet in which they can exactly see how much of
the product is in stock.
