1. What is Therapeutic Communication, and how will you utilize this as an RN?
Therapeutic communication is a form of communication where the caregiver exchanges
information with the patient, either verbally or not verbally, with the aim of promoting
their overall health. In nursing, therapeutic communication is essential, as it allows the
nurse to provide emotional support to the patient through verbal articulation and also
listens to them properly. As a registered nurse, I will use therapeutic communication
while obtaining information from patients who are in pain and also while giving them
guidance on their prescriptions. I will effectively employ this with a patient who has had
traumatic experiences to show that I sympathize with them.
