Psychology - Piaget's theory of cognitive development
Jean Piaget’s theory of cognitive development describes four stages in how children’s thinking develops: Sensorimotor (0-2 years): Learning through senses; object permanence forms. Preoperational (2-7 years): Symbolic thinking develops; thinking is egocentric. Concrete Operational (7-11 years): Logical thinking about concrete ideas; understands conservation. Formal Operational (12+ years): Abstract and hypothetical reasoning emerges. Piaget emphasized that children actively construct knowledge through interaction with their world.
