1. Learn about the growth opportunity in UAE and how customers are shopping
in the UAE Store
Let’s dive right in and start by looking at the opportunity waiting for you. In 2017, Amazon
acquired the region’s largest ecommerce retailer SOUQ.com, operating under “SOUQ, an
Amazon company.” In May 2019, “SOUQ, an Amazon company” officially became amazon.ae.
So you can benefit from an established customer base.
The UAE has a wealthy population with high GDP per capita $59.8K vs Germany $56.9K1
with a fast growing e-commerce market that grow by 85% between 2018-2020 vs
Germany 28%2 in the same time period.3
