Heart disease
Heart disease shares a major part of the global burden of lifestyle diseases with one is 3 people at
a risk of suffering from the disease. Earlier, non-modifiable factors like age, gender, family
history were mainly responsible for heart disease. But over the past few decades, heart disease
seems to have surpassed all the boundaries and now controllable risk factors like diet, physical
inactivity and stress largely determine the risk of heart disease. The common types of heart
disease are –
• Congential heart disease
• Coronary heart disease
• Atherosclerosis
• Cardiomyopathy
• Heart attack
• Pericarditis
• Peripheral vascular disease
• Rheumatic heart disease
• Aortic valve stenosis
• Congestive heart failure
• Atrial fibrillation
Liver disease
The liver is one of the most important organs of the body, as it performs numerous functions in
the body. One of the main functions of the liver is breaking down and disposing of toxic
substances from the body. If these toxins are not expelled properly due to the inefficiency of the
liver, they are simply reabsorbed. This in turn leads to various severe complications including
cancer. Here are some of the common liver diseases you should be aware of –
• Fatty liver
• Hepatitis
• Hepatitis A
• Hepatitis B
, • Hepatitis C
• Hepatitis E
• Nonalcoholic fatty liver disease
• Cirrhosis
Kidney disease
Kidney diseases (or kidney problems) are known as silent killer disease as most patients who
have reduced kidney function don’t realize it unless their condition worsens or other health
conditions develop alongside. This is the reason; you should know everything about various
types of kidney disease. The common ones are listed below -
• Chronic kidney disease
• Gallstones
• Kidney infection/Pyelonephritis
• Kidney stones
• Kidney failure
• Polycystic kidney disease
• Diabetic Nephropathy
• Nephrotic syndrome
• Glomerulonephritis
Brain disease/neurological problems
The brain just like any other organ in the body starts losing its functioning as you age. However,
you may be at an increased risk of neurological problems right from the time you are born till
you age. Here are few brain diseases that everyone should be aware of -
• Epilepsy
• Stroke
