ANSWERS/ A+ GRADE
Clinical decision-making
requires careful reasoning like choosing the options for the best patient outcomes based
on a patient's condition and the priority of the problem.
Concept map
Visual representation of patient problems and interventions that shows their
relationships to one another.
Critical thinking
ability to think in a systematic and logical manner with openness to question and reflect
on the reasoning process.
Diagnostic reasoning:
analytical process of determining a patient's health problem
Inference:
process of drawing conclusions from related pieces of evidence and previous
experience with evidence
Nursing process:
assessment, diagnosis, planning, implementation, and evaluation. Purpose is to
diagnose and treat human responses to actual or potential health problems.
Clinical judgement :
nurses are expected to be able to observe for changes in patients, recognize potential
problems, identify new problems as they arise, and take immediate actions when a
patient's condition worsens. The RN is responsible to making decisions based on the
basis of clinical information.
Deductive reasoning:
reasoning in which a conclusion is reached by stating a general principle and then
applying that principle to a specific case (The sun rises every morning; therefore, the
sun will rise on Tuesday morning.)
Inductive Reasoning
A type of logic in which generalizations are based on a large number of specific
observations.
Decision making:
problem resolution. Ex: determining which patient care priority requites first response,
choosing type of dressing for patient with a surgical wound, and choosing the best
teaching approach.
Reflection:
turning over a subject in the mind and thinking about it seriously. Gather information
about a patient, reflect on the meaning of findings and exploring what the findings might
mean
Evidence-based knowledge:
knowledge based on research or clinical expertise
Problem solving:
evaluating a situation over time, identifying possible solutions, and trying a solution over
time to make sure that it is effective.
