Summary Uterine cyst
Definition of Ovarian Cysts Ovarian cysts are described as solid or fluid-filled pockets within or adjacent to the ovaries, primarily benign and usually without symptoms. They commonly resolve on their own. Risk Factors for Ovarian Cysts Certain groups of women are more susceptible to ovarian cysts, including younger women, those experiencing menstrual cycles, pregnant women, and individuals with a history of pelvic infections or adhesions. Types of Ovarian Cysts Common types of ovarian cysts include cystadenomas, which are fluid-filled and can vary in size and composition, and cysts associated with endometriosis, which can be painful and may cause bleeding. Symptoms and Concerns While many cysts are benign and harmless, some can grow larger without indicating cancer. However, those associated with conditions like endometriosis can lead to pain and other symptoms, particularly during menstruation.
