Duquesne was built on its ruins. Washington tried to persuade the
French to give up the area, but they refused. On his way to take the
fort by force, he spotted the French in Jumonville Glen and attacked
them. He then ordered construction of Ft. Neccessity, but was
burned down. The British tried again, but were defeated in the
Battle of Monogahela. Later, the French burned down their Ft.
Duquesne before retreating. The British rebuilt the fort and named
it Ft. Pitt.
Battle of Lake George - answer A smaller British army defeated the
French with the help of the Indians after the French ambushed
them. They were able to win after receiving essential supplies.
Unfortunately, the French took the land back 2 years later.
Battle of Ft. Niagara - answer In an effort to remove French forts,
the British underwent a 20 day long siege in 1759 to force a French
defeat. France lost many forts and supplies as a result. British
gained control of the eastern Great Lakes.
