Mental capacity
a person's ability to make decisions, a legal construct and not a clinical condition. In
order to be deemed capable of making a decision, the person must be able to
understand information that is relevant to making a decision, evaluate data, and
appreciate the consequences of the decision or of not making the decision.
Determining capacity

Power of attorney

Using physical force against a person without the persons consent. May cause pain,
injury, or impairment.
Psychological or emotional abuse
Using words or actions to control, frighten, isolate, or erode a persons self respect.
Sexual abuse and exploitation
Includes non-consensual sexual contact with an elder. It can also include forcing an
elder to undress or watch sexual explicit images or activity.
