Airway in BLS
- Check for obstructions, if there are, turn head slightly downwards and open the mouth
to allow foreign material to drain. Then tilt the head backwards.
- Head-tilt/ Chin-lift Maneuver to open airways
Breathing in BLS
breathing will not be present if the airway is not open so the sequence is important.
- Assess breathing by look, listen and feel. In a clinical setting, a bag valve mask should
be placed in the pt.
