What causes late decels?
-Decels after the peak of a contraction
-Cause: Placental insufficiency, can lead to fetal hypoxia
What causes early decels?
-Early meaning just before or in rhythm with contractions
- Cause: Head compression
What causes variable decels?
- decels not related to contractions
-Cause: cord compression
Innominate bones of the pelvis
-Innominate means: without a name.
-has three parts: pubis, ischium and the ilium
No variability
-When there are no accelerations or decelerations in FHTs
-Causes: drug induced &/or cerebral hypoxia
Episiotomy
Cuts: midline and mediolateral
Best: midline. It has least amount of nerves and is less painful in the healing process
Dehydration in newborn
Causes: insufficient feeding, diarrhea, severe vomiting
Signs: less than 6 wet diapers in 24hrs, dark urine, doughy feeling skin, dry mouth,
sunken eyes, lethargy

a condition in which infants become malnourished and fail to grow or gain weight for no
obvious medical reason
Shock signs and symptoms
Moist, pale, cold, clammy skin
Weak rapid pulse, increasing shallow respiration decreased blood pressure
Urinary retention and fecal incontinence
Irritability or excitement, and potentially thirst
Face presentation delivery
Must deliver in a mentum anterior position (chin to pubic bone)
