Abuse - ANSWERThe intentional infliction of physical harm; injury caused by

remarks, verbally harassing, or threatening to inflict physical harm on a resident
Accept - ANSWERAn individual begins living in and receiving services at an assisted
living facility; or<br /> b. An individual begins receiving adult day health care
services or respite care services from an assisted living facility
Accident - ANSWERmeans an unexpected occurrence that causes harm to a resident
Activities of daily living - ANSWERBathing, dressing, grooming, eating, mobility,
transfer, and toileting.
Adult day health care services - ANSWERA program that provides planned care
supervision and activities, personal care, personal living skills training, meals and
health monitoring in a group setting during a portion of a continuous twenty-four
hour period. Adult day health services may also include preventive, therapeutic and
restorative health related services that do not include behavioral health services.
Adult foster care - ANSWERA residential setting which provides room and board and
adult foster care services for at least one and no more than four adults who are
participants in the Arizona long-term care system pursuant to Chapter 29, Article 2 of
this title and in which the sponsor or the manager resides with the residents and
integrates the residents who are receiving adult foster care into that person's family.
Applicant - ANSWERAn individual, firm, partnership, association, or corporation that
has submitted an application for,
a. An assisted living facility license; b. Department approval of an exemption in R9-
10-702; or c. Department approval of an assisted living training program.
Assessment - ANSWERA written analysis of a resident's abilities; preferences; and
need for supervisory care services, personal care services, or directed care services.
Assistance - ANSWERThe help or aid necessary to complete a function or a task.
Assistant Caregiver - ANSWERAn assisted living facility that provides resident rooms
or residential units to eleven or more residents.
, Assisted living facility - ANSWERA residential care institution, including adult foster
care, that provides or contracts to provide supervisory care services, personal care
services or directed care services on a continuing basis.
Assisted living home - ANSWERAn assisted living facility that provides resident rooms
to ten or fewer residents.
Bathing - ANSWERWashing, rinsing, and drying all parts of an individual's body.
Bedbound - ANSWERConfined to a bed or chair because of an inability to ambulate
even with assistance.
Bedroom - ANSWERA portion of a facility that is wall-enclosed with a door where a
resident sleeps and maintains personal items.
Behavioral health residential services - ANSWERA therapeutic regimen of screening,
evaluation, treatment, or rehabilitation provided on a 24-hour basis to individuals
suffering from mental disorders, emotional conditions, or the effects of substance
abuse.
Board of Examiners - ANSWERThe Board of Examiners of Nursing Care Institution
Administrators and Assisted Living Facility Managers.
Caregiver - ANSWERAn individual who provides supervisory care services, personal
care services, or directed care services to residents.
Charge - ANSWERA one-time payment or a payment that is not incurred in fixed,
regular intervals.
chemical restraint - ANSWERAny medication that is administered for purposes of
discipline or convenience and is not required to treat a resident's medical symptoms
Clean - ANSWERFree of dirt or debris by such methods as washing with soap and
water, vacuuming, wiping, dusting, or sweeping
communicable disease - ANSWERAn infectious disease transmissible (as from person
to person) by direct contact with an affected individual or the individual's discharges
