breeding. Last about 15 days.
What is Anestrus?
Period of temporary ovarian inactivity during the winter.
What does it mean when a mare is transitional?
She is coming back into breeding. season and her ovaries begin to activate again.
What is typical mare behavior while they are transitional?
They act as though they are in full heat and will back into and stand for the stallion to be
bred even though they cannot actually get pregnant during this phase.
What hormone is too low during the transitional period which keeps a mare from
developing mature follicles?
