8 science chap 15 sound
Sound is a form of energy produced by vibrating objects. It travels in the form of waves through a medium such as air, water, or solids. These waves consist of compressions (high-pressure areas) and rarefactions (low-pressure areas). The speed of sound depends on the medium; it travels faster in solids than in air or water. The pitch of sound is determined by the frequency of the vibrations, with higher frequencies producing higher pitches. The loudness of sound is related to the amplitude of the wave. Sound waves can be reflected, refracted, and absorbed, leading to various phenomena like echoes.
