Panic Disorder is an anxiety disorder in which debilitating anxiety and fear arise frequently and
without reasonable cause.It usually appears during the teens or early adulthood.
Signs & Symptoms:
- Sudden and repeated attacks of fear.
- A feeling of being out of control during a panic attack.
- Worry about when the next attack will happen.
- Physical symptoms- racing heart,sweating,shortness of breath,weakness or dizziness,chest
pain,stomach pain.
Causes:
Family History- Panic Disorder sometimes runs in families.
Abnormalities in brain- Several parts of brain are involved in fear and anxiety.
Major life stress- Someone’s death and other stressful events in life can cause Panic Disorder.
People who suffers from Panic Disorder
- have greater risk of suicide.
- are more prone to alcohol and other drug abuse.
- feels emotionally and physically less healthy than non sufferers.
Treatments:
Medication and Psychotherapy can be generally treated.
