lack of oxygen (ischemia) in the heart muscle. Also called
cardiac compromise.
Acute Myocardial Infarction (AMI)
the condition in which a portion of the myocardium dies as
a result of oxygen starvation; often called a heart attack by
laypersons

a DNR order; instructions written in advance of an event
Aerobic metabolism
The cellular process in which oxygen is used to
metabolize glucose. Energy is produced in an efficient
manner with minimal waste products.

umbilical cord, and some tissues from the lining of the
uterus that are delivered after the birth of the baby.
