,Introduction
UAE (“United Arab Emirates”) is a continuous developing country that is composed of a
multinational population with different religious beliefs, and educational background, as well as
cultural practices. Additionally, public health issues largely contribute to mortality and morbidity
in the UAE and this study is basically findings of the health status of UAE population with
different agencies and governmental healthcare communities.

In this consequence, diabetes is a health issue that needs to be concerned in the UAE/GCC
community for better health of the population. After that, diabetes becomes a major threat to
public health and this is a prevalence rate that is higher on the comparison of global average.
High calories diets, region’s sedentary lifestyle as well as genetic predisposition contributing
towards alarming statistics.

On the other hand, obesity is considered a significant health concern in GCC and UAE, in which
sedentary lifestyles, and rapid urbanization along with unhealthy eating habits led to obesity
rates. As per the WHO (“World Health Organization”), obesity increases the gamble of
persistent illnesses like diabetes, cardiovascular illnesses, and hypertension, which are
predominant in the region. The UAE's high-income levels and quick-moving ways of life have
added to a culture of comfort food consumption, with a shift away from traditional diets.
One of the important reasons for this small number may be that the GCC healthcare area has on
expatriate workforce. This reflects the challenge of the medical treatment system. The level of
well-being of expatriate staff is highest in Saudi Arabia at 78% and in the UAE at 85%.
Additionally, statistics indicate that only 3% of the country's 23,000 to 25,000 nurses are
Emiratis. Expatriate workforce is expensive, and they either want to return to their homeland
after several long administrations, or move to developed countries.
