Chapter 1: Problem Statement


The school system is the basis of cultural development and progress, and educators

are the driving force of academic progress and support for the future of the population. In this

leadership structure, the work of the school initiative appears as a key component that

significantly influences the inspiration and performance of the educator (Stephenson et al.,

2012). For the United Arab Emirates (UAE), a country focused on promoting its educational

environment, understanding and fostering the elements between school leadership and

teacher inspiration is essential.


As Al Samkari & David (2019) depicted, the UAE's education efforts are reflected in

its public programs and aim to build a knowledge-based economy through an elite education

system. As the UAE strives to realize these aspirations, schools play a vital role as centres of

distribution of the information, skills and values required for national progression. To achieve

excellence in training, learning attention must be paid to training programs, foundations, and

the essential human factor- teachers.


At the core of the learning process, teachers need a higher level of inspiration and

professional fulfilment to engage students and achieve ideal learning outcomes. However, the

degree of motivation of teachers is intricately related to the authority of their educational

base. School leaders, including principals and other leaders, have significantly impacted the

workplace, the culture and the expert learning experiences available to educators (Alkhyeli &

Ewijk, 2018).


This study explores the complex links between school leadership and teacher

inspiration in the UAE's exceptional educational environment. Understanding how school

leaders use different systems, strategies, and approaches to inspire educators is critical to

developing a climate that encourages academic excellence and ultimately helps students and

the nation.


As opined by David & Abukari (2020), examining the incredible factors between

school leadership and teacher inspiration, this exam provides essential lessons that shed light

on instructional arrangements and practices. These results can help improve specific

procedures and interventions for school leaders to increase teacher inspiration and thus

contribute to a more robust and successful school system aligned with the UAE's education

Research Problem Statement

The role of school leadership in motivating teachers in schools in the UAE is under-

researched and a complex area of study. Studies propose that school leaders are essential in

creating and supporting a positive school culture, which is fundamental for teacher

motivation. Strong school leadership can motivate teachers to develop essential parts of

school culture fundamental motivations for the teachers (Kumari et al., 2020). This can

support a solid educational system by attending to teacher's professional development. This

study's primary focus is measuring the role of school leadership that can raise teacher's

motivation in schools in the UAE.

Another way in which school leaders can increase the motivation of teachers is by

setting clear, achievable goals. Educators need to feel like they are impacting students'

education and their lives and be able to see student progress (David & Abukari, 2020). Thus,

school leaders can help teachers achieve this by managing clear and quantifiable objectives

and giving them the necessary support and tools.
