1. Definition of Outdoor Learning
Outdoor learning (Outdoor Study) is an activity of delivering a lesson outside the classroom,
so that teaching and learning activities or activities take place outside the classroom or in the wild.
Outdoor Study is basically a learning activity that has been designed and developed by educators
which is a combination of learning in the classroom and learning outside the classroom and aims
to direct students when learning outdoors by utilizing the surrounding environment or the outdoors
(Vera in Astuti, Rini 2015). Outdoor education aims for students to be able to adapt to the
environment and nature around them and know the importance of life skills and life experiences
in the environment and nature around them, and have an appreciation for the environment and
nature around them.
2. Goals and Benefits of Learning Outside the Classroom
According to Sudjana (2011), learning outside the classroom can provide several benefits,
namely:
- Learning activities are more interesting and not boring.
- The essence of learning will be more meaningful because students are faced with real or
natural situations and conditions.
- The materials studied are richer and more factual so that the truth is more accurate.
- Learning activities are more comprehensive and more active and can be done in various
ways.
- Learning resources are richer because the environment that can be studied can be diverse.
- Students can understand and appreciate aspects of life in the environment.
3. Types of Learning Outside the Classroom
In learning outside the classroom can be divided in general as follows:
