Unit 9:
P1 – Describe the Promotional Mix Used by two selected organisations for a selected
product or service
In my P1, I will explain how X Inc. and Kellogg’s use the promotional mix for one of their
specific products or services. The product I’ve chosen from X is the iPhone X and the
product I’ve chosen from Kellogg’s is their corn flakes.
Kellogg’s – Corn Flakes
Sales promotions are when a company sells its products
or services in a way of persuading its potential customers
in buying it. This is a long-term method for booming up
the company’s sales, as it gets the business increased
number of consumers, which further on results in more
income to the business. Now Kellogg’s corn flakes are
sold in retailers like Tesco, Iceland, Asda, Lidl. The
company could do a sales promotion like “Get a free
voucher over any Kellogg’s promotional pack & with
luck win a family stay in the Thrope Shark Hotel!” The
very reason businesses like Kellogg’s do these types of
promotions is because we as public and target markets of the brand, would definitely not say
no to a free stay in a hotel with family. So why not buy one of the promotional packs of
Kellogg’s? And if we’re lucky enough we might even win! This is how Kellogg’s persuades
its customers in buying its products and services.
Advertising is how a company encourages people to buy their
products or even to encourage buying their services too.
Advertisements come in many different forms, for example,
some of the different types of advertisement would be, a short
clip of the products or service, posters, billboards, hand-outs,
business cards, leaflets etc. all of that is good enough to grab the
customer’s attention-catching them to come and buy the
product. There are many different ways of advertising products.
When Kellogg’s first started the company, its target market was
only kids and children. As it grew in the market, it also
produced healthy products like cereals, corn flakes especially
for women who want to get in shape. In order to get the update
of new products for its updated target market, Kellogg’s did a
lot of advertising. They used the TV advertising to persuade
young women in buying the product by explaining the benefits
of that particular breakfast. https://www.youtube.com/watch?

Personal selling is when a person a particular sales
representative sells a particular product or gives a
particular service through face to face communications. It
means that the sales representative is responsible for any
queries or issues customers come up with regarding that
particular product or service. Since, Kellogg’s sells its
products to the retailers (which are then sold to
