LEXICAL AND AUXILIARY VERBS
Lexical verbs
Lexical verbs are verbs that denotes or depict actions carried out by an individual. They are the main or
major verbs.
Examples of lexical verbs are play, fight, run,read, teach, write, laugh etc.
Auxiliary verbs
Auxiliary verbs are helping verbs, which means that they play a supporting role in any sentence.
Different examples of auxiliary verbs and their functions.
1) Could -is used to talk about a past event or make a polite request.
2) May :is used to give permission or express a possibility.
3) Might :is used to express a possibility that is more unlikely to happen.
4) Can :This is used to show your ability to do something. It is also used to grant permission.
5) Will:This is used to express a future action and for making a polite request.
6) Would: is used for wishes and for polite requests
7) Should: is used to show that what is expected is a duty or obligation.
8) Shall: is used for future actions or strict instructions.
9) Must: used to show authority , obligations and necessity.
